On my first agency placement at BMP DDB, Flintham and McLeod had just written ‘You either love it or you hate it’ Yet another campaign from an agency absolutely in it’s pomp.
I was fortunate to end up running Marmite from 2011 - 2013. I loved it.
Before heading to Leo Burnett in 2013, my last piece of work for Marmite at DDB Adam & Eve was ‘Rescue’.
The creative team were struggling a bit. Brilliant thinkers who weren’t getting any work out and losing their confidence. We put our arm around them and got back on track by pointing out what a brilliant insight they had come up with: If you hate it, you don’t use it, so actually you may be neglecting it. Neglected Marmites need saving, rehousing and given loving homes.
What a great thought.
James Rouse did his stuff. Michael Buerk was a masterstroke. The spot won golds and Grand Prix in all the awards show. A great last project.

Marmite casting - social films.
A great bit of extra fun by James Rouse on the ‘Rescue’ project.
Marmite Christmas 2012
’We’ve been offered the Christmans Lights on Oxford Street. Do you reckon we could do them for our special Christmas Marmite?’
